5 Gadgets I Couldn’t Survive Without.
I saw a video on youtube the other day, and it was this creepy looking guy going on about his 5 gadgets that he just couldn’t live without. I guess I shouldn’t call him creepy, but it just had a weird feeling when I watched it. However, he got me thinking about the 5 gadgets I use in everyday life that I could not live without. It’s hard to believe that there are in fact material things that we cannot survive without becaue of our technological dependence. It’s not our fault, that’s just how it is today. So in thinking of what I need at my side if I were to, say, get stranded on a deserted island, would be as follows:
1. My laptop. I built this baby to last through the next five years of upgrades. With 3MB of RAM, a 250GB harddrive, and a graphics processor that will prevent any meltdown, I am ready to take on whatever application may come out. Sure it has the potential to be obsolete in a few years, but I am hoping I ordered enough pizazz to hedge off for a while. I use this about 19 hours a day.
2. My cell. I hated it at first, but depend on my LG Chocolate for keeping my contacts in one handy little spot. I have everything from my daughter’s little league parents numbers, to every person I have worked with in the past ten years. And the phone begs for more. I couldn’t fill this thing up if I tried, unless I knew over 1,000 people I suppose.
3. My Citizen Eco-Drive watch. My wife bought this for me about six years ago, and you know what? I have never had to buy a battery since. It charges on solar power, and keeps it running for 21 days for every day of light. Do the math, you will have this forever!!
4. My iPod. With 80GB, I keep every song I have ever heard in my life on here. And it works great for bringing my favorite TV shows everywhere I go, just to remind me just how old I am.
5. My 4GB Cruzer Flash Drive. I never realized how valuable one of these USB drives really were until I got a job that involved a lot of travel. This is the perfect invention to give me the ability to transfer every computer file imaginable and bring it wherever it is needed.
I think what is the underlying issue for all of these necessities is connectivity to the world at our fingertips. I have heard horror stories from this guy at work who travels overseas once a year to visit family. He said that over there, our electronic gadgets don’t work so well without the proper devices to change them over. Talk about torture. So I say to you, think about it really hard…what is it you couldn’t live without?
