Unique Watch Turns Back the Clock-Ultimate Watch Takes the Show.

Published by cjmullin at 1:33 am under Jewelry, Uncategorized, Wrist Watches

To most of us, a sand-filled hourglass is something that used to come with board games to keep track of your opponent’s turn. Our children today probably couldn’t tell you what an hourglass is, mainly because they are either avoiding board games for the more hip video version, or board games today have even ditched the idea of the hourglass timekeeper. I think everyone forgets this is actually the way people used to tell time back in the day, and what an invention it was. It beats the sun dial. Today I happened to google upon this neat looking watch that seems to re-incarnate the idea that started the timekeeping idea in the first place.

The watch is called “Sand + Time”, and it offers a retro look by being in the shape of an hourglass. In addition to that, there is a screen saver mode that actually imitates sand flowing through the timepiece. Unfortunately, this cannot be used as the actual clock, but it is still pretty neat. You hit the button when you want to see the actual numbers, and can even turn off the screen saver mode by moving your wrist with the built-in motion sensor.

I doubt this watch will take off much, because it does have limited features that today’s watches have created a demand for. But if you are searching for a unique looking watch, that is sleek as well as fashionable, then go for it. Be a trendsetter. You can be almost positive that you will be the first on the block with this around your wrist. You may even have people stopping you on the street to ask you about it or get a closer look.

Of course, there is another watch in town that totes itself as the “Ultimate Watch”, and will surely have people wanting to see this one, too. It comes with a built-in 2GB capacity, a 128×128 pixel screen, a built-in microphone, an mp3 player, 3D sound and is rechargable via a USB cable. Talk about shoving in as many features into a watch than anyone thought possible. To me, it sounds a little overboard, but there are those gotta have it electronics lovers that need to stay up on the latest inventions. Basically the average cell phone can serve the same purpose, and you don’t even have to wear it on your wrist. But some people like comfort, and carrying even the smallest cell phone becomes a hassle. For them, this device is perfect. I am not that important in life to where I need every bit of information at the flick of a wrist. It has been my opinion that when a company tries to take on too many tasks with one product, it never usually pans out. We will have to see how this one plays out.

Well, there you have it. Two ends of the spectrum, both proving that there are people out there trying to capture the demand for a fancier yet efficient wristwatch. I am more of a traditionalist, and prefer the simple yet elegant gold and silver two-tone with the rectangle face. But you have to stick with whatever floats your boat, and keeps you living the unique life.
