Text Away Wihout the Finger Cramps.
I am not a fan of text messages. My thirteen year old daughter chooses this as her main source of communication. One day, I actually saw on the bill she had over 1,000 text messages, and yet zero talk minutes. I asked her “You do realize it’s a phone, right?” For me, I hate having to hit the same keys over and over to cycle through the available letters, just to say something that would take two seconds of a phone call. For those of you who have Palm Treos or Blackberries with the QWERTY keys so small you hit three at a time until you get used to it, you always hear about thumb cramps from all the texting that goes on month to month. I honestly think they call it “Blackberry Thumb”, or something like that. I say let’s stop all the texting and treat the phone like a phone. But, for those of you who can’t give up your addiction, I believe this new cell phone accessory will keep your thumbs nice and rested.
The Bluetooth Laser Virtual Keyboard hooks up wireless via, yep you guessed it, Bluetooth technology to your cell phone. What it does is projects a useable keyboard onto any flat surface, giving you an image of all 63 keys in QWERTY fashion. The keyboard sensor reads what keys you are striking, and enters them into your PDA or cell phone, giving you the freedom to test the limits of how many characters you can really send. The keyboard is projected in standard full size, and has a battery life to withstand roughly 120 minutes of continuous typing, so go nuts! It even gives you a simulated clicking sound, so you won’t feel too awkward tapping your desk to write a message. The device itself is only 3.5 inches tall, and will fit in your pocket or briefcase with ease. For a full sheet of specs and compatibility with Bluetooth devices, you can access this info sheet for more details.
I think it is a pretty neat looking device, and it definitely has a useful purpose for those mega-texters out there. As far as futuristic gadgets go, this is definitely something out of a 1980’s sci-fi movie. People will definitely want to see what’s going on in the coffee lounge downtown when you have to reply to an email on your phone. You are just stuck if you’re not in front of or near a flat surface. I would NOT recommend this while driving a car, but you know some addicts will try it anyways. Especially those with the longer dahsboards. Just think of all the thumbs cheering with this fully functional, full sized savior. Now I bet we will see an even higher increase in carpal tunnel syndrome.
