Lego Your Egg Timer
I grew up playing with Legos. My entire childhood was spent arguing with my mom about forking over rediculous amounts of money for the large, impossible to put together Lego sets for birthdays and holidays. Sometimes she would cave in, sometimes she wouldn’t. But when she did, man did I enjoy them. You could have called me a Lego-maniac. Of course, the years have gone by and I don’t play with them anymore (unless one of my kids gets a really cool one they need help putting together), but I still have a sentimental feeling for those little blocks that kept me entertained for so long.
So it is good to know that being a grown up now there are still some little useful trinkets out there that can appeal to my generation. Take, for example, the Lego Egg Timer. Designed to resemble the little Lego men I always loved taking apart, it gives me a sense of nostalgia every time I use it to ensure my steak doesn’t overcook, or in the event my wife is baking she will never have to worry about burning the brownies or cookies. And I get to feel a little bit younger in the meantime. After after you hit thirty, that is a much needed feeling. Watching the head spin until the faces are completely back to normal, while listening to the tic, tic, tic sound couldn’t be more fun. And the kids think I am crazy that I get a kick out of this, but I guess that could be because Legos aren’t what they used to be. Not with video games taking over.
Go here and check it out. See if I am the only nut around, or if it would fit nicely in your kitchen, too. I love collecting stuff like this, and I guess they will always have things to keep me being a kid at heart. I don’t know what I am going to do when I get old.
