Speak-A-Message Opens New Line Of Communication
Ok, I have this argument with my daughter all the time. If the cell phone is a phone, why does she use it as an instant message device? The world of texting has made it so that our children are not going to know how to verbally communicate effectively. I always remember having to rely on the phone (which was attached to the wall, by the way) or actually walking to a friend’s house in order to talk to them outside of school. I didn’t have access to their email, I couldn’t IM them, and I could post my schedule up on a MySpace blog. Thankfully, I see technology is moving back to include some verbal speak, and I am glad to hear it. I think if we kept on going the way we have been, eventually we will have moprhed into a mute society.
Speak-A-Message is not really a tangible gadget, it is more of those computer gadgets that you download. It is totally free, and you can customize it any way you like from the options they offer. All you do is download the recorder, and record a message in audio file format. It then gets sent to an email address of whoever you want to send it to, and you’re done. The person on the other end doesn’t even need to download the program, it pops up as an attachment in their email. So, we are reverting back to talking to each other, but by incorporating it into email fashion to suit our every so busy technological lifestyle we have grown accumstomed to.
My voicemail at the office works in a similar way. I love it, because I never have to worry about remembering my voicemail system password and user ID. You can also use the program to record to-do lists, personal messages or reminders, and so on. I think that eventually we may get back to talking on the phone and actually carrying on a conversation the old fashion way.
