Ashtray That Aims to Help You Quit

Published by cjmullin at 12:46 pm under Health Gadgets, Miscellaneous

Let me start by saying I used to be a smoker for many years, so please don’t take anything I say here to be reflective of bashing the smokers of today. I am fortunate enough to have quit, going on six years now, and I would be lying if I said I didn’t miss it every day. Heck, I still have dreams about a cigarette every now and then. My wife and I quit on the same day, cold turkey, and it was tough. We had several failed attempts before that final one, and I have tried everything from the nicotine gum and patch to the fake cigarette inhaler thingies. I am now seeing other items that are out there that could also be used as a little reminder that smoking is not good for you.

Take this lung-shaped ashtray as a good example of some of the helpful little gadgets that can go a long way. Not only are they shaped like the body organ that smoking hurts the most, but when a lit cigarette rests in it the ashtray begins coughing and screaming. It is funny, and can get a bit annoying after a while, but it will always keep that reminder in the back of your head that you really should quit.

Now I am not saying run out and buy these for all your friends. But if you know someone that you are always nagging to kick the habit, this is a great gift idea. It’s inexpensive, runs on batteries, and will hopefully get a chuckle out of whoever you give it to.
