The Best Way To Listen To Satellite Radio

Published by cjmullin at 6:48 pm under Electronics, Miscellaneous, Uncategorized, mp3 Players

With the merger pretty much set in stone, the SIRIUS/XM satellite radio companies will eventually be one big conglomerate, offering their satellite services to millions of people all across the USA. With everything in the news over the past year (all except the details on what happens to the subscribers), I have looked at all the different types of receivers that are currently being sold in conjunction with both services to try and figure out which is the best one out there. Now once the programming merges, it is anyone’s guess whether you will need to do anything to your current receivers, or if it will be as simple as them pointing all satellites to the same spot allowing you to obtain both signals with little effort. I am just here to talk about what I think is the coolest satellite radio device, and that is the SIRIUS Stiletto 2.

The Stiletto 2 is not only a SIRIUS receiver, but it also has the capability of being a 2GB MP3 player as well. And what is nice about it is that you can not only store MP3 files, but you can even record up to 100 hours of music and/or programming as you listen to it. It is very portable, and enables you to receive direct satellite feed with the built-in antenna. You don’t have to hook up any antenna extensions or walk around with a satellite antenna on your head. And if your reception isn’t the greatest at your home or office, utilize the Wi-Fi connectivity and sign into your online SIRIUS player to keep up with your shows and channels. The colorful 2.2″ high res screen will give you a great display of what channel you are on, and what is currently playing in your head. It only weighs about 4 ounces, and is small enough to fit in your shirt pocket. I feel that it is better than an iPod because of the great service SIRIUS has to offer. And with the addition of the XM services eventually coming down the pipeline, you will be ready to get it all in one small, tiny package.

I have had a similar receiver to this one, the SIRIUS S50, and I love it. But it is going on three years, and I am about to take the plunge and purchase the Stiletto 2. You have to be ready to commit, as it is expensive to get the receiver and at least the home or car kit (over $300 when all is said and done), but I feel that it is well worth it. And the content you get in the subscription service (which is required separately) is top notch. Go to Sirius.com if you want to check out the details on the services, and the specs on the new Stiletto 2. You will not be disappointed. Just ignore those anti-satellite commercials!
