Home Phones Made Cool Again
With all of the bells and whistles one gets on their cell phones nowadays, the home phone has taken a back seat on the coolness meter. I even have a few friends that don’t have a home phone anymore, and rely on their cell for every call. For some of us that live in the woods or mountain areas, this would never work. My cell reception at home is horrendous, and I don’t think there are any plans coming in the near future to improve that signal. Needless to say, when I am at home, my cell and its amazing little features are useless.
The OpenFrame phone system looks to change that. Just think of what you get out of your current home phone system. No add pretty much every feature the new iPhone gets, and you are good to go. At the center of the system you get a nice sized LCD touch screen that allows you to access your VoIP system, the Internet, home media and even acts as a personal manager to keep you organized. You can even hook it up to your TVs set-top box and watch it. And the handsets allow you similar capabilities, as well as text messaging, customizable ring tones (decent ones), and more!
Now, I read a few articles on this and it seems that it may be a product only available through a few of the major phone companies, so as far as who can get it and where we will just have to keep our eyes open. But just knowing something like this exists for us home phone reliant people is enough to get excited.
