With digital cameras taking over, and the prevalent use of memory cards increasing in both size capacity and compatibility, I am getting sick of popping the tiny cards in and out, making sure I have the right adapter depending on what PC or laptop I am using. It gets to be a hassle, and only gets more complex if I rely on my USB cable to connect. To be honest, it has gotten to the point where I don’t use my camera as often as I used to, which is a shame since it cost about an arm and half a leg. With wireless technology in full swing, they have come out with these Wi-Fi, or Eye-Fi as they are branded, memory cards that supposedly end the headaches of adapters and connectivity for uploading your favorite images. Although they are a bit more expensive than the traditional SD cards my camera uses, I think it may be worth it.

The Eye-Fi SD cards are availabe in 2GB capacity, and have three options to choose from. The Eye-Fi Share and Eye-Fi Explore are the higher end products that offer more than I am really looking for, so I am focusing mainly on the Eye-Fi Home. At $79.99, the price is a bit scary cmpared to other 2GB SD cards. However, with this card you never have to remove a thing from your digital camera again. It is very simple, just upload photos through your wireless network to your PC of choice. You don’t even need to do anything, just walk back into your Wi-Fi range and they upload automatically. The only thing you have to worry about is powering on and off the camera…and replacing the batteries every six hours! Luckily there is an advanced power managment that helps optimize your camera’s power.

If the world keeps getting any easier, we wouldn’t know what to do with ourselves. However, I am all for it. Hopefully the price will come down a little, making it more affordable for us common people, which I am sure it will. The way we are heading, there will never be a need to physically connect anything again. Check out the Eye-Fi products at eye.fi and see what they have to offer.

My entire childhood was spent arguing with my mom about forking over rediculous amounts of money for the large, impossible to put together Lego sets for birthdays and holidays. Sometimes she would cave in, sometimes she wouldn't. But when she did, man did I......

Always Know Where The remote Is With This Little Buddy I swear that my children get a kick out of losing or hiding the remotes in my house.
