Ok, I have been too easy on the gadget market lately. Being today is cold and rainy, I figure it’s a perfect day to slam one of those gadgets that I just don’t see making any sense. I remember when I was a kid, we visited my aunt’s house out in the country. Growing up on city water and sewer, the idea of well water and septic never never occured to me. And every so often, when washing my hands I noticed the brown-colored water flowing from the spout that kind of grossed me out. Years later, I would figure that it was just some silt passing through the water system. But as a kid, water that wasn’t clear was never appealing. Fast forwarding to today, I see these LED faucets popping up and I just don’t get it. I know it is in a much cleaner presenation than that of my aunt’s house years ago, but I still had no idea there was such a demand to have colored water pouring out of a faucet.

It is supposedly easy to attach to your faucet, but any of you that has tried to install a faucet in a sink or shower knows that nothing is easy when it comes to plumbing. There are a few adapters that come with the light to ensure that it will fit most models, but I vaguely remember a water filter attachment I had purchased that came with 7 different adapters, none of which fit my particular faucet. It is then I realized I must be that oddball faucet owner who can’t enjoy the little attachments that keep coming out. Powered by batteries, you can illuminate your water with ease. The only cool part about these is that the water is blue when cold, and turns to red when the water temperature exceeds 89 degrees. Other than that, I could really care less what color my water is, as long as it is clean and clear.

If you are looking for a futuristic appeal in your washroom or lavatory, I suppose this would be a neat addition. For the ordinary consumer like myself, I laugh everytime I see ads for these. Let me know if you have tried these out and how you like them. Maybe you will persuade me enough to pick one up someday. Today, I am just too cranky to care. Hopefully tomorrow will be sunny.
